As part of its decision to switch to a safe, more ethical and self-controlled platform, Schola Campesina, an international agroecology school based in Italy, has opted for EcoAgtube to store and share its videos on agroecology, mainly webinars and discussions focusing on policies.
The main objective of Schola Campesina is to cultivate, exchange and disseminate knowledge about agroecology, with a specific focus on the global governance of food and agriculture. It fosters knowledge exchange among food producers’ organisations and collaborating with other actors such as academia, activists, NGOs, facilitating dialogue among different kinds of actors and knowledges and strengthening smallholders’ voices at international policy level.
Over March-April 2026, Schola Campesina facilitated a 6-week online Praxis course on ‘Digital Sovereignty’ in collaboration with the Grassroots Innovations Assembly for Agroecology (GIAA) and AfriTAP. The course was offered by the University of Vermont Institute for Agroecology with support from the McKnight Foundation and from the Funding Lab for Agroecological Technologies (Float), an initiative of the 11th Hour Project.
The course, which aimed to guide the agroecology movement away from corporate digitalisation, provided an overview and in-depth exploration of the alternative digital ecosystem containing locally managed open-source and farmer-centred digital resources that, instead of empowering big data corporations, create connections and collaborations for locally-governed food systems.
As one of the participants of this course, Access Agriculture was invited to give a brief introduction about its EcoAgtube initiative and the reasons for creating this platform.
All the sessions were recorded as a shared learning resource accessible to all participants. Watch on Schola Campesina EcoAgtube channel the different presentations made during the 6-week course sessions: https://www.ecoagtube.org/channel/scholacampesina25
